Doña Presents: BBD & YSA

to 18 Oct

Doña Presents: BBD & YSA

Daniel Dias aka BBD is a DJ and music producer based in Rio de Janeiro. His sound brings Brazilian funk to the global dance floor, dissolving genre boundaries and placing it firmly within the landscape of contemporary electronic music.

In BBD’s sets, funk collides with house and afrobeats, shaping a triangular Afro-diasporic soundscape — warm, pulsating, designed to heat the heart and move the body.

Beyond the booth, Daniel is the founder of Mariwô, a collective that draws crowds and mobilizes Black and queer youth wherever it goes, turning each gathering into a celebration of resistance, pleasure, and community.

--

YSA sets are jumpy, heavy-hitting beats that get you moving, spanning genres like baile funk, electronic, alt-R&B, percussion-driven sounds, gqom, and afro-house. She's had the pleasure of playing at We Out Here festival, Yazmin Lacey’s Rinse FM show, is apart of the JMG Collective and has done takeover on Foundation FM, as well as nights at The Haggerston, The Standard and other London venues.

All funds raised will go directly to the selected charity.

This is a labour of love, no one is getting paid.
The venue is also not getting paid! What legends, please support them with a drink at the bar.

Why A Party For Palestine?

For obvious reasons hopefully! We don’t know about you, but we’ve spent a long time feeling a lost at how to support those affected by the genocide in Palestine.

We know the love and care we feel on the dance floor with all of the glorious people in our network. We want to find a way to use the positive energy from the dance floor and ticket sales as a force for good.

In tandem to this, we noticed a lot of backlash around festivals and venues that are owned or backed by companies directly contributing to the genocide. We feel that party for the right reasons, at a venue who are also unequivocally anti-genocide, is something we can do contribute to the humanitarian aid of those affected by the genocide in Palestine.

One of our core beliefs is that no one is free until we’re all free. We’re creating an event where we can feel comfortable in a safe space, as a reminder that we want this feeling for the people of Palestine as well.

Raffle Prizes
There will be at least three winners! Maybe more if we get more donations.
1. Gift voucher for 2 to a Palestinian Restaurant in London

Gal Pals: 10th Anniversary & Zine Launch

GAL PALS TURNS 10! 🎈✨

We're double digits bby! To mark this incredible milestone we're throwing an intimate celebration with our friends, collaborators and of course all of YOU 💖

We will also be launching our 10 year anniversary zine on the night - a 100+ page zine full of photographs, memories, words and ephemera from the last 10 years. You can purchase a copy on the night or as part of your ticket.

Please note: this is not a club night and will take place at a gorgeous pink dream of a bar in Stoke Newington. Think of it more as a social and a celebration - there will be cake, cocktails and zines to look at. We will end the evening the best way we know how - with a Gal Pals DJ set.

Much love,

Gal Pals 💋

WHAT IS GAL PALS?

Gal Pals is a queer dance party for women, trans and non-binary people, playing the best in female-fronted pop, hip-hop, r&b, dance and queer bangers!

WHO CAN COME TO GAL PALS?

Gal Pals is an intentional space prioritising lesbians, bi/queer women, trans and/or non-binary people and those of marginalised gender expressions. We ask allies to only attend with friends who are from those communities and to consider the space they take up as the venue has limited capacity and our events usually sell out.
